Introducing Tap the App: Digital single and return tickets launched on Glasgow’s X19 Queen Elizabeth University Hospital service

Stagecoach West Scotland introduces new digital single and return ticket options for the X19 Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to Easterhouse service. Following successful trial periods on selected services in Ayrshire, passengers can now enjoy the convenience of buying single and return tickets for the Glasgow X19 service through the Stagecoach Bus App. This marks the first time this option is available for any UK city.

Starting initially with services in Irvine, North Ayrshire in April, Stagecoach expanded to services in Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire on the back of positive user feedback.

The X19 bus service is widely used and stops at popular destinations such as Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow City Centre, Easterhouse Shopping Centre, and Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre.

For optimal convenience, digital single and return tickets give customers greater flexibility when buying their bus tickets. This service is specially tailored to those who need to use the bus service for one-off trips to the hospital or shopping centres.

Unlike traditional paper ticketing, Stagecoach anticipates that this update will reduce boarding times and enhance the overall customer experience on the X19 service while providing its customers with a seamless and efficient travel experience.

To celebrate the launch, the Stagecoach team will be out and about offering information on the new ticket options and giving out some Stagecoach goodies to customers.

Fiona Doherty, Managing Director, Stagecoach West Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to launch the digital single and return ticket option on our X19 service. By offering digital tickets, we aim to provide a seamless and efficient travel experience, reducing wait times and offering more flexibility. We look forward to seeing our customers benefit from this new feature and will continue to seek innovative ways to improve our services. We are committed to offering a fully inclusive range of products and customers who may not have a smartphone will still be able to purchase single or return tickets directly from our drivers “

As part of its commitment to serving and adapting to the constantly evolving needs of its customers, Stagecoach continues to explore new ways of improving public transportation options. The new digital tickets offers customers a user-friendly and, more importantly, efficient experience on the X19 service, while also taking a step towards modernising bus travel in Glasgow.

For those using the X19 service, Stagecoach Bus App tickets can provide a convenient way to reach your destination. Visit stagecoachbus.com for more information.
