First Bus announces increases to services between Lanarkshire and Glasgow

First Bus has announced it will be increasing three of its services from 31st March.

The move will see service 18 – which runs from Holland Street in the city centre, through Rutherglen to East Kilbride – increase in frequency to every ten minutes during the week and every 12 minutes on Saturdays.

The Glasgow Airport Express – running from the city centre to Glasgow Airport and back – will also be increased to every ten minutes during the week and every 12 minutes at the weekend.

Meanwhile, service 21 – which runs from Cochrane Street in the city centre – will also see improvements with the route extended in East Kilbride to finish at Eaglesham Road, Gardenhall at Lidl.

The improvements highlight the ongoing investment from First Bus in its services as it looks to increase the number of buses on the road in Glasgow and further improve the customer experience as it connects people across the city.

Chris Coleman, Head of Network for First Bus in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be continuing to invest in our services and to provide an improved customer experience on services 18, 21 and the Glasgow Airport Express with more frequent journeys.

“We are continuing to see more and more people choosing to travel by bus across Glasgow and as a result, we will be introducing more service increases as 2024 progresses to help meet that demand.

“This move is the latest instalment in our wider plan to improve our services in Glasgow, and we hope these changes will further enhance the experience for our customers in the weeks and months to come.”
